GO IN TO GO OUT II

GO IN TO GO OUT IS THE PRACTICAL PART OF CLAIRE O'SULLIVAN'S BACHELOR THESIS. IT IS AN INTERACTIVE CONSTRUCTION DEVELOPED FROM THE PROTOTYPE AND CONCEPT OF THE THESIS. A 2 X 2 METRE RACK, WHICH IS DARKENED WITH MOLTON FABRIC, FORMS THE FRAMEWORK TO SIMULATE THE ENVIRONMENT OF A NIGHT CLUB. VISITORS ARE INVITED TO WALK THROUGH THE INSTALLATION WEARING HEADPHONES IN ORDER TO LIVE THROUGH A TWO-MINUTE EXPERIENCE. INSIDE THE INSTALLATION, A MAZE OF CURTAINS, VARIOUS LIGHTS AND PERVASIVE SOUNDS GENERATES AN OVER-STIMULUS TRIGGERING FEELINGS OF FEAR, LOSS OF CONTROL AND HARASSMENT. WHEN THE PROTAGONIST LEAVES THE INSTALLATION, THE EXPERIENCE IS PLACED IN CONTEXT AS VISITORS ARE INVITED TO SHARE THEIR EMOTIONS. IN THIS WAY, A SENSE OF COMMUNITY IS EVOKED, EMOTIONS ARE INTERNALISED.
